- Pulmonary oedema
- Infections (Cytomegalovirus & Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia)
- Various non-infection: Interstitial lung diseases (e.g. hypersensitivity pneumonitis, Hamman-Rich syndrome)
- Diffuse alveolar haemorrhage
- Crytogenic organizing pneumonia
